Moore Markhams mentoring potential in kids through matches

Believing that potential lives within every young person, Moore Markhams has teamed with two Big Brothers Big Sisters branches - Hawke’s Bay and Christchurch - to sponsor an annual match between a volunteer mentor and a child in each region.

Big Brothers Big Sisters, a not-for-profit, professionally supervises matches between volunteer mentors and young people (aged 6 to 12) to help form strong positive relationships that express care, challenge growth, share power, and expand possibilities.

BBBS NZ is part of the world’s largest volunteer mentoring network, with a presence in NZ for 25 years.

In Hawke’s Bay, we’re proudly supporting the match between Tracy (mentor) and Tureiti (mentee). Read more about them here.

During the first months of their match Tracy and Tureiti have been busy exploring local Hawke's Bay attractions like Bay Skate, Par 2 Mini Golf, TimeZone and the National Aquarium of NZ. They have enjoyed sharing their own tastes in music with each other. Tureiti is looking forward to going to Tracy's house to do some cooking together and ride the four-wheeler at the beach.

And in Christchurch, we are supporting the match between Craig (mentor) and Bailey (mentee). Read more about them here.

Theirs is a school-based match and they meet once a week for one hour. Craig is very committed to the BBBS program and in the future is keen to take Bailey out for sessions during the school holidays. Together they play board games, kick a ball around, and have also baked cookies for the school’s administration staff.  Craig describes his time with Bailey as an hour filled with laughter and fun.
