Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) have named Atul Mehta as a Fellow, an honour that reflects the dedication and care that many of his colleagues at Moore Markhams Auckland have witnessed throughout his impressive career, spanning nearly four decades. Atul’s story is one of commitment and service.
Since joining Moore Markhams Auckland (working for Barry Ryder) in 1988 and becoming a Partner in 1996, he has guided people and businesses with insight, patience and a genuine desire to help them succeed. During his tenure he also served as National Chairman of the Moore Markhams network from 2015 to 2019, strengthening connections across the network through his steady leadership.
Consistently delivering outstanding support is what it is about for Atul, which is echoed by Sam Bassett, current Chairman of Moore Markhams:
“Atul has made a significant difference to our firm and our clients. He works with integrity, he supports people and he delivers on what he says he will do. This recognition is well-deserved and we are very proud of him.”
Sam Bassett — NZ Chairman & DirectorPeople at the core
Atul dedicates much time to mentorship and championing people. During his tenure as Managing Partner he mentored countless colleagues, and numerous young accountants, many of whom are now Partners or Directors themselves, credit him with helping them grow into confident professionals.
When a pill is too bitter to swallow
Over the years Atul has become THE expert in the pharmacy industry. When the pill becomes too bitter to swallow, pharmacy owners find Atul to help them find the path forward. He developed a New Zealand’s pharmacy benchmarking survey, which now draws participation from close to 200 pharmacies each year. The survey has become a landmark publication, giving pharmacy owners clear insight into their position within the market and has guided business decisions across the country.
Never one to waste a challenge.
Atul thrives on a good challenge. Whether supporting a complex and high-stakes corporate finance transaction, or developing a fundraising strategy for a not-for-profit, Atul takes it in his stride. “Atul uses his knowledge and expertise, and puts it to use for client success, governance excellence and, as much as he can, for the greater good”, stated one colleague.
But most importantly, an overall outstanding professional
Without a shadow of a doubt, the majority of Atul’s success can be credited and attributed to his attitude to his work. Known by many adjectives, such as ‘professional’, ‘expert’, ‘generous’, ‘consistent’ and ‘very good at what he does’, Atul has supported countless clients through highs and lows. He has calmly guided them through turmoil and growth spurts, always saying what he will do, and then doing it.
“The calm voice of reason”, as one supporter calls him.
This Fellowship is a meaningful acknowledgement of Atul’s contribution to our profession and to the people he has supported along the way. We are exceptionally proud to count him as ‘one of our own’, and celebrate him for the difference he continues to make to our clients, our people and our wider community.
Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved achievement.
