Bio
Business valuation, forensic accounting, and litigation support advice for legal practices, family businesses, and commercial organisations across Auckland and New Zealand.
I help clients make informed decisions when value, ownership, succession, or dispute resolution matters most.
Business valuations, forensic accounting, litigation support, and trust and estate matters sit at the centre of my work. Based in Auckland, I advise legal practices, family-owned businesses, and commercial organisations across New Zealand on business value, succession planning, partner admissions, dispute resolution, and taxation matters.
Many of the clients I work with are navigating significant business or personal decisions. Whether you’re planning for succession, valuing a professional practice, resolving a commercial dispute, or seeking independent advice on trust and estate matters, I provide practical guidance grounded in commercial reality and technical expertise.
My career with Moore Markhams began in 1993 after returning to New Zealand from London, where I worked as a commercial accountant. Since then, I have built extensive experience in business valuation, forensic accounting, and litigation support. In 2001, I became a Partner of the firm and, in October 2023, I was appointed New Zealand Chairman.
A significant part of my work involves advising legal firms. I regularly assist small and medium-sized law practices with succession planning, profitability improvement, partner transitions, and firm valuations. I am particularly experienced in valuing ownership interests in legal practices and providing litigation support where independent financial analysis is required. I also prepare Economic Disparity calculations under Section 15 of the Property (Relationships) Act and act as an independent trustee or executor, including appointments through the High Court and mediation processes.
Strong client relationships are built on accessibility, trust, and clear communication. You’ll find that I work closely with clients, provide independent perspectives when important decisions need to be made, and focus on practical recommendations that can be implemented with confidence. I believe good advice comes from understanding your objectives first and then helping you navigate the financial, commercial, and personal considerations that sit behind them.
Outside work, I enjoy reading historical biographies and fishing on the Manukau Harbour. I’m married to Judith and have two sons.
