New Associate combines two roles

Nikki Lester has been appointed as Moore Walker Davey Searell’s newest Associate. She will be combining her current team manager role with her new position, at least in the meantime.

“I really enjoy working with our team members, particularly the graduates that I have under my wing,” Nikki says. “I get great satisfaction from helping them gain experience and skills and seeing them achieve their goals.”

Nikki joined the Christchurch firm in 2007, working with director John Hendry. Over the intervening years she has gained her Chartered Accountants qualification and moved through the ranks to her position today.

“Becoming an Associate is a wonderful opportunity. I’m looking forward to continuing to help our clients and the firm grow.”

Technology is perhaps the biggest change that Nikki has observed over the years.

“Our role has changed significantly due to the advent of technology. It’s meant we’ve gone from data entry and compiling information to now being freed up to analyse that data more closely and give clients targeted advice. We can provide information about trends and show business owners ways to improve how they work, and how to grow their own success.”

Providing practical help with Xero implementation and training is one way Nikki assists clients. “It’s gratifying to see people take control of the accounting process themselves and become more aware of where they need to pay attention to improve their profitability and growth.”

Within the firm, Nikki pays particular consideration to ensuring systems and processes are in place and applied so information shared with clients is consistent and of the highest quality.
