Fellowship award for Wellington director

Bruce Stormer, a director in our Wellington business advisory firm, has been made a Fellow of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand.

The Fellowship acknowledges Bruce’s outstanding achievement in the accounting profession and particularly the largely voluntary or significantly discounted assistance he provides to charities and non-for-profit organisations.

Abbey Warner, Bruce’s fellow director says, “To me Bruce epitomises what it should mean to be a chartered accountant, he is passionate about helping his clients succeed and relishes opportunities to really add value to a client’s business but also recognises the importance of giving back to the community.”

For Bruce it’s “quite an honour and humbling.”

Bruce started working at Mason King (now Moore Markhams Wellington) in 1985, full-time as office junior while he studied to earn his degree and CA qualifications. In 1986, he left to work for Todd Petroleum and related companies before returning to Mason King two years later, working his way up and becoming a partner in 1997 at the age of 30.

He has been a member of the Moore Markhams national board since Mason King joined the Markhams network in 2006. From 2017 until 2019 he chaired the national board.

Bruce is well known for his ability to explain technical matters to both team members and clients in a relatable way as evidenced in his signature ‘Buckets’ presentation.

He has delivered this presentation and variations of it many times over the years, including an extended version as part of a course designed for unemployed people to gain administrative skills to help them return to the workforce. Bruce is also called on frequently to present to ANZ customers as part of their Start Up business series.

Bruce has been a member of CA ANZ since March 1990. The organisation represents 128,683 members in Australia, New Zealand and overseas. CA ANZ focuses on the education and lifelong learning of members and engage in advocacy and thought leadership in areas of public interest that impact the economy and domestic and international markets.
