Moore Markhams Auckland’s new associate, Anson Lam is thriving on the opportunities her role is providing her. Anson was appointed an associate of the Auckland firm in April.
After joining the firm as a young graduate in 2008 and working her way through the ranks to manager level, Anson left to join a larger accounting firm in 2017. However, she missed the tight teamwork, exposure to a varied vibrant client base and growth opportunities afforded by Moore Markhams and after a year returned as a senior manager.
Now she works closely with clients, predominantly across the pharmacy, medical centre and wider health industry, and has recently joined a collaborative effort with Moore Australia and other Moore firms across Asia Pacific to facilitate business and investment opportunities for clients across the region.
Originally from Hong Kong, Anson immigrated to New Zealand as a child but remains fluent in Cantonese and can understand and hold a conversation in Mandarin. She’s excited about the opportunity to share what New Zealand offers by way of business investment opportunities with Chinese and other Asian investors.
Later this year, she and Auckland colleague Jessica Chu, will be presenting an overview of business and industry prospects in New Zealand through a webinar to Chinese delegates in collaboration with Moore Australia.
“It’s opportunities like this that encourage me to step outside my comfort zone and allow me to grow with the team at Moore Markhams. It’s also really satisfying to be able to help grow business for our clients, our firm, and the global network.”
Helping clients overcome their challenges is another source of satisfaction. “The uncertainty of Covid over the past two plus years has meant business owners need to be more agile and resilient to keep their businesses running. But it’s also taking its toll as we’re all getting jaded and in need of a decent break.
“Working together and helping a business owner tackle various challenges and being part of their extended management team really appeals to me. It’s always rewarding to help solve problems and achieve a client’s goal while working alongside them.
“I’m continually growing and being challenged in my role at Moore Markhams and that is immensely satisfying to me.”
