This is a school-hours (~25) or full-time (37.5 hours) role, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 5:00pm), based in our Dunedin office.

Part-time applicants are welcome to apply.

As a Senior Accountant, you’ll provide high-quality compliance and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. You’ll support your Manager and collaborate with colleagues across the firm, while also mentoring junior team members and contributing to the development of a positive team environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Support a portfolio of clients and provide business advisory services across various industries and structures
  • Prepare and review financial statements and workpapers to our standards
  • Prepare and file tax returns (IRD compliance)
  • Assist with complex tax matters, tax planning, and group structures
  • Prepare cashflow forecasts and management reports as required
  • Maintain direct communication with clients and other key stakeholders
  • Support the accounting team with technical queries and workflow assistance
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior staff as required

About You

  • CA qualification (or equivalent) and a minimum of 4 years’ accounting experience
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of NZ tax and compliance
  • Competency with Xero, Xero Practice Manager, Microsoft Office, and an openness to learn new systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
  • A positive, professional attitude and the ability to be a role model to others
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement

External relationships: Clients, CAANZ, IRD, Financial Institutions, Banks
