About the Role
Based in our Newmarket office, you’ll work closely with a Partner to lead, mentor and develop a talented BAS team while delivering exceptional advisory and compliance services to a diverse client portfolio.
You’ll be responsible for driving team performance, fostering client relationships, and identifying opportunities to provide strategic business advice that creates real value for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination and management of the team’s workflow to ensure quality outcomes and efficient delivery.
- Coach, mentor and develop team members, supporting both their technical and professional growth.
- Manage your own portfolio of clients, building strong, long-term relationships as a trusted business adviser.
- Review financial statements and ensure the delivery of high-quality accounting and advisory services.
- Provide expert advice on complex tax matters, including Income Tax, GST, FBT and tax planning.
- Prepare and review financial reports, cash flow forecasts, management reports and, where applicable, IFRS financial statements.
- Support clients with business improvement initiatives, financial forecasting, due diligence and valuation projects.
- Identify advisory opportunities and provide commercially focused solutions that help clients achieve their business goals.
- Maintain exceptional client service standards while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards.

You’re an experienced BAS Manager who enjoys leading people, developing talent and building meaningful client relationships. You thrive in a collaborative environment, take ownership of your work and are motivated by the opportunity to influence both team success and client outcomes.
You’ll bring:
- Previous management experience within a New Zealand mid-tier or large accounting firm.
- Proven success leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong technical expertise in financial reporting, business advisory and New Zealand taxation.
- Advanced knowledge of Income Tax, GST, FBT and the NZ IRD systems.
- Experience managing a diverse client portfolio with confidence and autonomy.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong commercial acumen.
- Experience preparing or reviewing IFRS financial statements (desirable).
