We are pleased to announce Sam Bassett has taken over as Chair of Moore Markhams New Zealand.

Moore Markhams is a network of 5 independent tax, accounting, audit and advisory firms with 7 offices across the country.

Sam joined our Auckland firm in 1993 after a stint in the United Kingdom, where he gained invaluable experience as a commercial accountant in London. Over the years, Sam has made significant contributions to the network, specialising in business valuation, Economic Disparity calculations, and providing litigation support.

His expertise extends to acting as an independent Trustee and assisting with dispute resolution as appointed by the High Court. In recognition of his exceptional skills and dedication, Sam became a Partner of Moore Markhams Auckland in 2001.

Outgoing chairman Craig Hemphill commented: “It has been a pleasure representing the network and seeing all of our hard work come to fruition. Sam and I have been working alongside each other for many years, and I’m confident in his ability to lead the Moore Markhams network into the next chapter. I wish Sam all the best in his new role as Chairman.”

Sam's commitment to helping clients thrive has been evident in his collaborate approach to client communications. Additionally, he regularly consults with small and medium-sized law firms, providing guidance on valuation, succession planning, and enhancing profitability.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Sam enjoys indulging in historical biographies and enjoys fishing on the Manukau Harbour. He is happily married to Judith and is a proud father of two sons.

We would like to thank Craig Hemphill for his time in the role. “Craig has played a pivotal role in representing the network and driving growth in key areas. His hard work and determination has allowed me to take on the role with confidence, knowing that the framework for success is already in place,” said Sam.
