Growth is aspiration of new Associate

Not only does Stuart Hansen want to grow his career, he’s also very determined to grow his client base and the skills and opportunities for his team members.

Stuart was promoted from Audit Manager to Associate on 1 April. He has been with Moore Markhams Auckland’s audit practice since 2016, working with clients in both Auckland and Christchurch.

Formerly working in paramedicine, Stuart decided to return to auditing to allow for a better work life balance. He chose his employer based on one with a proven pathway to senior management and ultimately partnership. Also important was a firm with strong values and principles. Moore Markhams was his choice.

Now as the firm’s latest Associate, Stuart will not be ‘sitting on his hands’. He’s looking to grow the audit client base and not just in New Zealand. As one of Australasia’s highest qualified in anti-money laundering (AML/ CFT) audits, Stuart is working with Craig Hemphill Audit Partner, to secure assignments from Moore Global sister firms in America, UK, Dubai, Jamaica and elsewhere.

He’s also keen to take on more responsibility for the practice’s team of auditors, identifying ways to help them build their skills, experience and confidence. “It’s important to provide others the same opportunities I’ve had both professionally and personally by being approachable and helping them feel comfortable to grow.”

Together the audit and business advisory team in Auckland sits at around 75 people. “We’re large enough to be provide a quality service but also a good size to develop strong, ongoing relationships with clients. We do provide a personal and personable service that adds value to a client’s business and that’s a strength of Moore Markhams.”

Outside of work, Stuart has continued to engage his medical training and is a volunteer with the Devonport fire brigade. Read more here.
