Mike Willetts has worked within the banking and finance sector for the past 30 years.  He has held senior leadership positions as Managing Partner Canterbury for the BNZ Partners’ division covering corporate, business bank, agribusiness, private bank, and other specialist units.  In his last role as General Manager of Business Bank and Specialist Markets, Mike was responsible for strategy execution, sales performance, risk management and overall leadership for the New Zealand business.

Over the past 12 months, Mike has been running his own company focusing on business advisory for business owners in Canterbury.

Mike will use his past senior leadership and business advisory skills focused on the following areas:

What’s your most essential tool of the trade? My trusty Hilux – it gets me out of the office to see the clients.

What motivates you when the going gets tough? Breathe, listen and act with integrity.

Intellect, willpower or technology – what’s most important for an advisor? Once again, you need all of this in today’s world in order to advise your clients well.

Most unforgettable piece of advice? Always fix the roof when the sun is shining.

Best moment of your career? Any time I have helped others to be successful or reach potential.

What’s the number-one key to success in business? Have a plan for success and then execute.

What got you started in accountancy? The ability to help people out.

Did you love mathematics as a child? Love is too strong but perhaps like.
