IMPORTANT – Changes to Inland Revenue payment services

Payments posted to Inland Revenue need to be received on or before the due date to avoid penalties and interest. This means cheque payments can no longer be posted on the due date.

Inland Revenue encourages customers to make payments online and over 70 percent of payments are made electronically. Digital payment channels – online banking, credit and debit cards and international money transfers – are secure and faster than traditional payment methods, and are available 24 hours, seven days a week.

Westpac is no longer accepting cheque payments or acting as a drop-off point for returns or forms, although it is still possible to make cash and EFTPos payments for Inland Revenue.

Inland Revenue is working to make the one million refunds it generates to customers each year as electronic payments also.
