Helping ‘exciting talent’ to world cycling podiums

We’re hot on action at Moore Stephens Markhams Christchurch. And we’re keen to help our people develop their talents and succeed.

As a firm, we also extend that philosophy out into the community with support for various school footie and cricket teams, and at a much more intense level, as leading sponsor of a Canterbury cycling team that is looking to develop the talent of young riders.

The Moore Stephens Markhams Junior Development Team aims to provide up and coming junior competitive cyclists with a unique opportunity to work with three older successful internationally-experienced riders to gain knowledge to become serious contenders on the world stage of cycle racing.

“The commitment of this team is impressive,” says Paul Rickerby, one of our directors. He cites the comeback made by Keagan Girdleston, one of the Development Team members, as extraordinary. The now 20-year-old was involved in a nasty accident last June in Italy while racing, that saw him sever not only his carotid artery but also his jugular vein, nerve and muscles.

“Keagan deserves all the support he gets and we’re proud to be able to get in behind him and the others. With their dedication and talent, one day, we may see them on the podium of Tour de France.”
