Congratulations Paul – persistency wins out

Director, Hamish Pringle with Hawke’s Bay winner, Paul Robinson.

Paul Robinson from Villa Maria’s Joseph Soler and Te Awa vineyards in Hawke’s Bay is the 2014 Young Viticulturist of the Year.

The 27 year old assistant vineyard manager has held the Hawke’s Bay regional title three times previously but the national win had alluded him until this year. Naturally he is delighted with his win, “it was getting a bit old” to come so close three times, Paul said after his Hawke’s Bay win. He is even more delighted in that this year’s prize includes, for the first time, a brand bew Santa Fe 7 seater on lease, and brings his prize package to over $20,000 worth.

Moore Stephens Markhams has supported the Young Viticulture competition since its inception in 2006.

Hamish Pringle, a director of our Hawke’s Bay firm says Paul is a very worthy winner and has shown his persistency and resilience in continuing to enter and do well in the competition. “The competition is about recognising the future leaders within the wine industry and we are hugely supportive of encouraging success.”
